What does the Picture Editing process look like?

Regardless of the format, the process stays the same.

Below, I'll walk you through what to expect when we get to work together!

Step 1: Let's Chat

Reach out to me and let's talk about what your video needs. What format is it? What vibe are you trying to achieve? We can talk about how I can help you in the most efficient way so that we both get what we want out of this relationship.

Step 2: Lock in the details

Once we think that it's a good fit, we can move on to sort out the details and sign a contract that breaks down the components of the project. The goal is to make sure we're both on the same page on the expectations. Once that's done, the fun part begins!

You can either send me the hard drive or we can meet (If you're in Toronto)

Otherwise, I'll have to grab those files from you via cloud storage. I have very fast internet, so I'll be able to download those lads very quickly.

Step 3: Transfer

Step 4: Picture Editing

I know I said the fun part begins after Step 2, but this is where the REAL fun begins, for me at least. Depending on how engaged you'd like to be in the editing process, you can either give me the files and forget about me for some time till we meet again, or I can keep in touch as we move forward. I imagine the longer we work together, the more we'll be able to find that nice balance.

We'll tweak your project till you're happy with our product.

Step 5: Add some Extra Love (Optional)

Now that the cut is locked, we have the option to add some basic leveling to your sound and a bit of color grading to bring some extra life to your shots. This helps get the project as polished as possible before handing it off to a sound editor, VFX artist, or colorist. Have the project as ready as we can to either be sent off to a sound editor, VFX artist, or colorist. Don't know anyone who can do that? Not a problem, I know some excellent people I can recommend for that.

Step 6: Export and Publish

Ah finally, the moment you've been waiting for. The editing process is done. I can now export your final cut or package the project for you to take to a laboratory, and add the final touches to your project. We can find out what delivery formats they'd like and make sure the transfer is smooth.
